Eat Out Madrid - Uniting Foodies With Valentina Ruffoni

Eat Out Madrid - Uniting Foodies With Valentina Ruffoni

Episode 8

When Valentina Ruffoni launched her first online community “Eat Out Madrid” in 2016, she drew on inspiration from similar Facebook groups and experimented with her own ideas as she went. Today, Eat Out Madrid is a vibrant online community of 6,700 passionate foodies eating their way though the Spanish capital.

Valentina is originally from London, England. She’s spent the majority of her working life at sea for a major cruise line, in entertainment and events, and some time in the air as a flight attendant.

She’s lived in Abu Dhabi and London before deciding to settle down in Madrid. Today, she’s building her communities (Eat Out Madrid, Eat In Madrid, and CMX Madrid) and career as a community consultant and events manager.

In this episode, Valentina and Marsha chat about scaling a Facebook community and keeping it authentic, pivoting during COVID-19 times, and Valentina's winding journey of living and working all over the world.

“Really, the way I got into community building was by being selfish and thinking of myself, because I wanted help adjusting to my new city. Now, almost four years later, we’re a 6,700 people community talking, eating and sleeping about food.”
